Weber Summit S-670 LP Gas Grill

best weber gas grillIf you’re in the market for a premium grill, the Weber Summit S-670 Gas Grill is about as high quality as grills come.  This is by far a top choice for best 6 burner gas grill with the only obvious downside being the price.  It’s the most expensive choice on this list.

But, if the price is within your budget you’ll be handsomely rewarded with a high performance grill.  Weber is known for making high quality products, and they back this particular grill with a generous 5 year warranty.

The primary cooking area of this grill is 624 square inches, with an extra 145 inch warming rack to bring the total cooking area to 769 square inches.

The first premium feature to highlight is the stainless steel rod cooking grates, which are a definite step up from enameled cast iron grates.  These steel grates make incredible grill marks, hold heat well, are durable, and are the easiest to clean.

From there, a side burner, sear station burner, smoker burner, and rear rotisserie burner are all also included to add maximum versatility to this grill.  Anything you could want to do on a grill can be done here.  The rear rotisserie burner in particular is a great feature to have and relies on high tech infrared grill technology to cook your food.

This grill also comes with Weber’s signature flavorizer bars, which are essentially upside down V shaped metal burner covers.  These bars prevent your food’s dripping from hitting the burner flames, which virtually eliminates flare ups.  On top of that, the drippings vaporize and the smoke rises back up to flavor your food.

On top of all of that, the Weber Summit S-670 comes with an enclosed cart, a built-in thermometer, two stainless-steel side work areas, built in lights, six tool hooks, two heavy-duty front-locking wheel casters, and two heavy-duty back wheel swivel casters.

  • Backed by a 5 year warranty
  • Retains heat extremely well and heat is distributed evenly throughout the cooking chamber

Camp Chef 6-Burner 900 Flat Top Grill

I don’t make any secret of the fact that I’m a huge fan of flat top grills.  They’re one of the most versatile types of grills and make a great addition to any patio or outdoor kitchen.  In particular, the Camp Chef 6 Burner 900 Flat Top Grill is a fantastic choice that can make some delicious meals.

*Note* you can compare to other Camp Chef flat top grills here!

The griddle cooking surface is the real superstar here.  A cold rolled steel cooking surface comes pre seasoned – which means it’s non stick right out of the box and ready to cook on.  With 877 square inches of cooking surface area, you have more than enough space to cook for 70 or more sausages at once – making it an ideal choice for large cookouts or tailgates.

When it’s time to clean up after your cook, you can rely on a few great built in features to make the process easier.  The grease management system includes a grease tray, catch bucket, and micro adjust griddle levels to help funnel your grease and drippings all into one place.

Char-Broil 6-Burner Cabinet Liquid Propane Gas Grill

Char-Broil’s 6 Burner Propane Grill is an all around solid choice, and comes with many of the features you love to see in a proper grill.

Let’s start with the basics.  The primary cooking area is a generous 650 square inches, and a swing away warming rack adds an additional 280 square inches of space to work with.  That’s a total of 830 square inches of cooking surface area at your disposal.

Each of the 6 burners produce up to 10,000 BTUs of output, and provide consistent and even temperatures across the entire surface of your grill.  Combined with porcelain enameled cast iron cooking grates, you’d be hard pressed to find a better grilling surface for your food.

One nice little bonus feature with the Char-Broil is that you get an additional 10,000 BTU side burner on the left side shelf of the grill.  This is a great tool to have for a quick sear or to make a side sauce or sauté veggies while the main course cooks on the grill grates.

Stainless steel parts are used for many of the components of this grill (like the lid, handle, control panel, and cabinet) which adds an extra element of durability to the build.  The cabinet is a great feature for weather proof storage of your tools and accessories.

Last but not least, there’s an easy to remove grease pan which allows you to quickly and easily clean out your drippings when the pan gets full.

Things We Like:

  • 830 square inches of total cooking surface area
  • Extra side burner included for side sauces and sautéing veggies
  • Stainless steel frame and parts are durable
  • Cabinet design provides a safe place to store tools and accessories
  • Reasonable price for what you get

Things We Don’t:

  • Some customers have complained that their grill shows up with a few missing parts.  If this happens, be sure to contact Char-Broil for replacements
  • Assembly can take a while if you aren’t experienced with assembling furniture or appliances

Megamaster 6 Burner Propane Gas Grill

Normally I’m pretty skeptical of brands I haven’t heard of offering grills at cheap prices, but in the case of the Megamaster 6 Burner Propane Grill, I’m actually quite impressed.

It doesn’t come with any bells and whistles or extra features, but if you’re looking for a bare bones budget grill, this one could be a great fit for you.

The primary cooking surface area is 543 square inches, with an additional 210 square inches of swing away warming rack.  A warming rack can come in handy in a lot of situations, especially when you need to cook different foods at different times but want to make sure everything gets served at a nice temperature.

The 6 burners total to 54,000 BTUs output capacity (9,000 each) – while that’s enough to get up to searing temperatures, it’s not quite as capable of getting to high temperatures as some of the other choices on this list.

Cast iron is the material of choice for the cooking grates, and combined with a porcelain matte finish the grates are a nice cooking surface and are easy to clean.

Things We Like:

  • Price point is very low – a great budget 6 burner gas grill
  • Heat output range is nice and wide enough for versatile grilling
  • Swing away warming rack lets you keep foods warm while others cook
  • Cast iron grates are easy to clean and provide a nice and consistent cooking surface
  • Burners have a 5 year warranty (everything else is 1 year)

Things We Don’t:

  • As far as 6 burner grills go, there’s not a lot of cooking surface area.  Which might defeat the purpose for some of acquiring a 6 burner gas grill
  • Some customers have reviewed and reported inconsistent temperatures from the burners and due to heat leaks.  Any of these issues should be covered under the warranty though

Napoleon Prestige 665

The Napoleon Prestige 665 is another great choice for any outdoor grill setup.  If you’re unfamiliar with the Napoleon family of grills, they’re high quality products that come with a few unique features.  You can learn more about Napoleon in our review of their Prestige Pro 825 grill.

First and foremost, you’ll notice something different about the grill grates.  Namely, the cooking grids aren’t straight – they’re wave shaped (and stainless steel).  Napoleon claims that this design feature helps to ensure even cooking and also prevents food from falling through.  At the very least, they definitely create some beautiful sear marks!

The other unique feature of this grill is the inclusion of an ice box and a cutting board in one of the side shelves.  To be honest, I think this is a creative idea and am surprised other grill manufacturers haven’t attempted something similar.  It’s quite practical – you can easily crack open a drink while you grill and also have a dedicated space to cut on when needed.

The 6 burners combine to produce 74,000 BTUs of output which is spread across 815 square inches of cooking area.  It’s a generous amount of both heat capacity and cooking area – there’s likely not very many grilling jobs you won’t be able to complete here.

You can also sear steaks on a dedicated sear station, which relies on infrared technology to quickly get to scorching heats.  It’s a perfect place to perform a quick sear before you move your steak to the main cooking area.

Things We Like:

  • Wave shaped stainless steel grates are quality, easy to clean, and make great sear marks
  • Lots of cooking surface area and powerful burners
  • Dedicated cutting station and ice box built in
  • Sear box utilizes infrared technology to get hot fast
  • Grill cabinet has lots of space for storage
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Things We Don’t:

  • Unless it’s on sale, it’s on the more expensive end of the spectrum

Benefits of the Best 6 Burner Gas Grill

Large gas grills ultimately come down to two things.  Convenience and cooking capacity.

The latter is pretty straight forward.  One of the biggest and most obvious reasons to get a 6 burner grill is to have a lot of cooking area to work with.  Maybe you’re buying a grill for an organization or maybe it’s just for a large family – or possibly something else.  No matter what your situation is, there’s no denying that the best 6 burner gas grill will cook enough food to satisfy even the biggest crowds.

The other big positive of gas grills in general is that they’re very easy to use.  Most of them have quick ignition systems, which means all you have to do to get started is turn a knob to open your propane tank, turn your burners on, and press your ignition.  That’s it!  Just like that, you’ve begun making delicious food.

Propane vs Natural Gas

Most of the products on this best 6 burner gas grill list are fueled by propane gas, but a couple of them are sold in propane or natural gas options.  Because of that, it’s worth pointing out the difference.

Propane fueled gas grills rely on a connection to a portable 20 lb propane tank.  The propane from your tank fuels your burners, which get ignited to fire up your grill.  Propane is cheap and has the benefit of being portable, but has to be refilled after you use all of the gas in the tank.  Refilling your propane tank can be a pain if you grill frequently – which is something to consider.

Natural gas grills on the other hand rely on a direct connection into your home’s natural gas line.  The benefit here is that you never have to worry about running out and you never have to refill your fuel.  On the other hand, your downside is that your grill becomes less portable because the gas line for your house will be in a fixed place.

Beware of Cheaply Made Grills

Unfortunately, there are a lot of products on the market that are frankly pieces of junk.

Remember, a grill is an investment.  This is an appliance and tool you’re going to use for years to come and make many meals on.  While we certainly understand that everybody has a budget, just make sure to do your research.  If you buy a cheap grill from an unknown brand that’s poorly made, you run the risk of buying something that will have to be replaced within a year.

All of the grills on this list have been vetted and are manufactured by brands who have a consistent presence in the outdoor cooking space.

Final Thoughts

I hope this guide and our best 6 burner gas grill suggestions have helped to point you in the right direction!  At the end of the day, make sure you do your research and conduct a cost benefit analysis of the different grills you’re considering.

All things equal, lean towards the grill that has the better manufacturer’s warranty.  That’s typically a sign that the underlying product is high quality and it puts you in a position of being more protected.  It’s a great tie breaker.
